Turkish Angoras
Turkish Angoras are alert and intelligent They are adaptable, make loyal pets and are famous for their gentle nature. Angoras are rather athletic in their play and their kittens are precocious, opening their eyes earlier than most breeds and indulging in mock fights whilst still in their kitten box.
Turkish Angoras are a semi-longhaired cat. They are bred in in a full range of colours although some cat fanciers claim that the white Angora is the only variety that is truly the pure native breed. Very often white Angoras have odd eyes, one being blue and the other amber. Grace and flowing movement are the hallmarks of the Angora, and it often carries its tail horizontally over its back so the tip almost touches its head.

The Angora is one of the most ancient breeds of cats, with its origins rooted in the history of its native Turkey. Angoras were named after the old city of Angora (now Ankara) and indeed Ankara zoo keeps only white Angoras to ensure the purity of the breeding line.

Persians
Persians are a breed of longhaired cat, and recognised in nearly fifty colours and patterns. They are renowned for their placid, gentle temperament and have quiet melodious voices.
Persians are closely linked to the Turkish Angora in as much as they were the first cats to reach Europe from the east in the sixteenth century. The French naturalist, Count de Buffon wrote that the most beautiful and longest hair on the Persians and Angoras is the result of a spontaneous mutuation preserved through interbreeding in the mountain areas of Turkey and Persia. The Ragdoll also originated from Persians.

Some modern day Persians are often called Peke-faced Persians and are sometimes prone to running eyes and breathing difficulties. It is for this reason that we cross the Persian with the Ragdoll and Angora. The kittens look like the old fashioned persian without the 'wrinkled muzzle' but with the beautiful coat and personality. All of our Persian cross kittens will be registered with the GCCF.
